This group meets the present need for an orchestra with period instruments that are able to perform the orchestral and symphonic repertoire from Baroque to Romanticism: 1600 - 1850. The musicians who make it up originate mainly from southern countries and they are all top-level specialists in playing ancient instruments. The first works recorded by Le Concert des Nations are "Canticum ad Beatam Virginem Mariam" by M. A. Charpentier, the "Suites pour Orchestre" and the "Les Six Concerts Brandebourgeois" by J.S. Bach, "Les Sept dernieres paroles de notre redempteur sur la croix" by J. Haydn. With the Opera "Una Cosa Rara" by V.Martin y Soler, they entered the genre of opera. This work was put on at the Teatre del Liceo in Barcelona in 1991 and later on, they performed "Orfeo" by C. Monteverdi in 1993. In February 1995, the opera "Il Burbero di Buon Cuore" by V. Martin y Soler was performed for the first time in Montpellier. Le Concert des Nations has also recorded the "Requiem" by W.A.Mozart together with La Capella Reial de Catalunya and the "Fire works - Water music" by G.F.Haendel, which won an RTL prize in 1994, "Alcione - Suites des Airs a Jouer" by M.Marais, "Sinfonia para gran Orquesta" by J.C. Arriaga and also"Sinfonia Eroica n. 3 & Coriolan ouverture" by L.V. Beethoven. The last records for Fontalis-Auvidis have been "Orchestral Suites of The Fairy Queen and The Prophetess", by Purcell and the "Suites d'Orchestre" by Guillaume Dumanoir, Michel Mazuel, Mr. de la Voye and anonimus musicians of the time. Le Concert des Nations is the orchestra of La Capella Reial de Catalunya and receives the patronage of la Generalitat de Catalunya. |
